You were having a really nice dream. You were flying with every kind dragon you knew of and Aurora. You were high up in the clouds, and they sky was black and dotted with millions of stars. You felt so free and…alive. Your hands had been skimming the clouds, tiny water droplets collecting on your hand as the moon broke through.

And then the maids busted down your door and shouted at you through the protective membrane that was Aurora’s wings.

“Princess! You have to get up!”

“The ship will be leaving any minuet!”

“You’ll miss it!”

They’re jabbering continued till finally you pushed your self out from underneath Aurora’s wings, efficiently shutting them up.

The Changewing continued to doze as you went about the room, gathering a pair of worn and dirty trousers and a long sleeved shirt. Without giving a second thought to the maids, you stripped of your clothes and threw on the black pants and the red shirt. You ran your fingers through your tangled hair, put on a pair of spare boots, and then roused Aurora.

The dragon blinked sleepily at you, and then sighing (well, as much as a dragon could anyway) hopped off the bed and hoisted you on her back. You gave her a quick scratch behind her ears, and then she took off from the open balcony.

Aurora landed on the ship, and then collapsed and went back to sleep.

You rolled your eyes at her, and then made your way to your father, who was eyeing your choice of attire with distaste.  “Good morning.” You said.

Your father nodded. “I got the maids to pack your clothes, seeing as how you probably wouldn’t do it.”

“Are they below deck?” You asked, ignoring the last comment. Your father nodded again, and then stalked off.

You watched him go before letting out a sigh. Figures he would pack your clothes. You then shook your head and made your way over to the rail, peering over the edge at the murky water.

It was a 3-day trip to get to the tiny island of Berk, and since you couldn’t ride Aurora, which would take a day, you were suck for a long ride.

oOo

It was now the second day of the trip, and you and Aurora were currently leaning over the edge of the ship, watching the fish swim in the now clear water.  Both rider and dragon blinked as a large light teal shadow came up to them, and you gasped in wonder as a head splashed out of the water.

Its neck was long and narrow, and was its head. However, it had that same pouch in its mouth like that a pelican, but it had a horn perched on its nose.

You knew it was a dragon, but you had never studied sea dragons, since your library only had knowledge on land dragons, so you had no idea what type it was.

“Hey bud.” You said, leaning over as you stuck your hand out. The dragon cocked its head, and then after giving your hand a quick sniff, it pressed its snout in it.

You let out a squeal of delight, which caused the dragon to give you a curious look. It blinked at you, and then shot a gentle stream of warm water at you from its mouth before disappearing back under.

You watched it until you couldn’t see its shadow anymore, so you turned back to Aurora, who looked a little jealous.

“Oh, don’t look at me like that.” You said, taking her head in your hands. “You know your still number one, right?”

Aurora snorted; blowing your wet locks back from your face before giving in and nuzzling you.  You yourself grinned.

“(Name)!” You were pulled out of you moment by your father’s voice. “Get away from the rail!”

You rolled you eyes, but did as he commanded non-the less.

You knew virtually nothing about this marriage you were being forced into. Only that you were going to this tiny island called Berk and the man you were supposed to marry was some kind of hero named Hiccup.

That was it.

You had no idea how long you were staying, where you were staying, when you would get married, where you would get married, what Hiccup was like, why he was a hero. You didn’t even know if Aurora would be left alone or slaughtered on the spot.

And that thought scared you.

oOo

The sea dragon had come back later that night, so you and Aurora stayed up well past midnight playing with the dragon and (on your part) learning about it.  Now it was late afternoon and you had finally reached Berk.

You, however, were still sleeping…

…On the deck…

…Next to the rail.

Aurora was curled protectively around you, growling at the soldiers and maids trying to wake you up while you slept on.  But when your father came in with a big burly man that Aurora didn’t recognize, she finally nudged you awake.

“Hum?” You looked up, rubbing the sleep out of your eyes.

“I am so sorry about her.” You father said, turning to the man. He however, just laughed.

“Oh, don’t worry about it.” He said, waving his hand. “My son is exactly like that.”

You blinked a few times, and then finally started to take in the details of the man standing next to your father.

He was massive, easily weighing 200 pounds. But, it was all muscle. He had a bushy read beard that covered half of his face, and he was still chuckling. One of his hands was on the head of a dragon that was looking at Aurora curiously.

Wait…

You bolted up, eyes widening, a gasp leaving your mouth as you looked inland.

Dragons of every shape, color and size were swarming the island; some had riders, and others moving freely as they flew around. Others were eating out of giant barrels, and still others were lying on rocks and basking in the sun.

A grin found it’s way to your lips, and before your father could yell at you, you hopped on Aurora and took off to the skies.

You had Aurora moving at top speed as you weaved in and out of pack’s of dragons, both letting out a happy cheer as you passed over builds and dragons alike.  You were nearing the edge of the island, and when you were close to the ocean, a black blur raced past you.  You quickly looked back, only to see that it had already gone.

Aurora landed with a thump on the edge of a cliff, and you climbed off, wasting no time in dangling your legs off the edge.  You both were sprayed with a salty mist, and while you wiped it away with you sleeve, Aurora stuck out her tongue to wipe it off her face.

You let out a laugh, and them sputtered as you got a face full of dragon spit and seawater. You groaned and wiped it off, glaring at the now laughing Aurora.

Your glare didn’t last long however, and you smiled and leaned back against the warm dragon, letting her hold you in her paws.

“You know,” You said, looking up at her. “This might not be as bad as I thought.”

Aurora looked at you, as if asking how so?

“There are dragons here!” You half shouted. “I mean, just imagine how much I could learn!”

Aurora rolled her eyes. You already knew way too much.

“No I don’t.” You retorted.  “There’s only so much book’s can teach you, but having hands on experience?” You then grinned. “Aurora, it will be amazing!”

The Changewing smacked her lips, and then rolled back. You let out a little shrike, and then maneuvered your self around in Aurora’s paws and flicked her snout.

She looked startled as you did this, and while you laughed she blew a hot stream of air in your face.

“Hey!” You shouted, and then you both froze, as a fluttering of tiny wings was herd.  You blinked as a pack of Terrible Terrors landed on your cliff, while Aurora, even more startled, blended into the rocks.

The terrors looked confused, their large eyes looked at you (who appeared to be floating) to the spot where Aurora was. After a few more moments of this, you finally laughed.

“Oh, come on Aurora!” You said. “There not gonna hurt you!”

The dragon let out a huff, and then became visible again. When she did, the Terrors launched themselves at you, sending you off Aurora.  They were swarming around you, lying on your stomach as sniffing at your hair and face.

“Gah! Okay!” You sat up, sending the Terrors on your stomach sliding to the ground. You then picked one up, who blinked at slapped its tongue to it’s eye before bringing it back to it’s mouth.

“You guy’s are really cute in real life.” You mumbled, holding the small dragon at arms length.  It let out a little roar (which sounded like a squeak), and that’s when you noticed a piece of paper tied to its leg.

You carefully untied it, and then rolled it out, a little surprised to find it addressed to you.

“(Name)

Get to the great hall, now.

It’s the biggest building on this island, and if you can’t find it, then ask someone.”

It didn’t take a genius to figure out it was from your father, and with a sigh you rolled it back up. “Well, look’s like we gotta go.”

Aurora huffed, and then rolled over onto her stomach, hoisting you up with her snout. The Terrible Terrors blinked, and then the one who had the message hopped on your shoulder right as Aurora took off.

“Hey! You can’t-“ The Terror cocked its head, and you let out a sigh. “Fine, you can stay.”

It let out a happy coo, then buried its self in the mantle you had grabbed before taking off.  You rolled you eyes, then gripped on of the spikes on Aurora before spurring her on to her top speed.

oOo

“Look, you-oh come on!” You had found the great hall on your own, and were now currently walking into the building, backwards. You were sure whoever was in there was giving the strangest looks. “You can’t stay in there!”

You finally managed to wrestle the blue terror out of your hood, and as you held it in your arms, it licked you face. “Gah!”

Aurora narrowed her eyes at the dragon. You were her master!

“Okay, time to go now.” You said, placing the dragon on the floor.  It juts stared up at you, blinking its eyes one at a time. “Go on, go.” You waved your hand for extra measure, but the Terror just crawled back up you leg.

Aurora snapped at it, and it wrapped it’s self around your waist, and you, giving up, sighed. “It’s fine Aurora.” You said, and then turned around. “Oh…hello.”

Your father and the man from earlier were there, eyeing you with confusion. But their third companion was smiling.

He looked to be about your age, with messy auburn hair with 2 small braids behind his ear and emerald eyes. He had on fancy looking armor, and as you looked farther down, you noticed the metal leg.

“Nice of you to join us.” Your father said.

You opened your mouth to say something, and that’s when you noticed the black dragon next to the unknown male. “Is that a Night Fury?”

Everyone blinked at you, and you, completely ignoring them, walked to the black dragon. “Hey!” You said, kneeling down. “Oh, your beautiful.”

It’s acid green eyes blinked, and then the dragon hummed in approval.  You held out your hand, and the dragon waltzed right on over, pressing its snout into your hand before licking it.

“(Name).” Your father let out a warning.

You sighed, and then stood, making your way back to Aurora. The Changewing then grabbed you with her paws, pulling you to her chest. The Terror squeaked, and then crawled back into your mantle.

“Well, I see your going to fit in just fine.” The man with the bushy beard chuckled. You yourself smiled.

“I’m Stoick the Vast, chief of the tribe, and this,” Stoick then pointed to the smallest male. “Is my son, Hiccup.”

You couldn’t help but blink.

THAT was Hiccup?

You had been expecting someone who looked more like…like Stoick.

“Hiccup, this is Princess (Name).” You let out a little wave to the newly identified Hiccup, who waved back. “So then, why don’t you go show her around?”

“Yeah, sure. Come on Toothless.” Hiccup started to walk towards you with his dragon bounding after him. Aurora let you go as he stopped next to you, glaring at Hiccup as you two walked out of the hall.
I could have kept going, but we were already at 6 pages, so I figured I better stop. Oh well, at least you met Hiccup.

So, the dragon you ran into on the second day of your voyage was none other than Scaldy! Hi Scaldy! And you now have yourself a very persistent Terrible Terror. Enjoy that.
