Hiccup X Reader - Arranged marriages (part 12 END)

The party had been going on for a few hours, and you really just wanted to go sleep.  And as you were heading back to Hiccup with this preposition, a song started that you had been waiting to hear all night.

You weren’t really much of a dancer, so when you got on ballroom floor with Astrid when a faced paced song started, Hiccup was a little surprised.  But then the lyrics came, and Hiccup understood.

“Let the wind carry us
To the clouds, hurry up, alright”

When Hiccup had been showing you songs, this had been in your top 3 favorites, so naturally you would dance along.

“We can travel so far
as our eyes can see”

You and Astrid were smiling and laughing as the two of you danced. Hiccup himself was completely mesmerized by you, and he only looked away long enough to glance at Arthur, who had eyes only for Astrid.

He found that a little weird, but didn’t question it.

“We go where no one goes
We slow for no one
Get out of our way”

The music slowed, and you quickly made your way over to Hiccup. He smiled at you, and then yelped as you dragged him back onto the dance floor.  Hiccup started up a protest, but it died quickly when you pulled him into a waltz.

The music picked up again rather quickly, and Astrid laughed as you dragged an unsuspecting Hiccup back into the faced paced dance you had been doing, this time accompanied by Toothless.

“I’m awake when up in the skies
There’s no break up so high, alright
Let’s make it our own,
Let’s savor it
We go where no one goes
We slow for no one
Get out of our way”

The music slowed once more, and the two of you fell back into the slow waltz. Toothless pranced around you two, and then, tired of being ignored, snaked his was so he was between the two of you.

He blinked as you laughed, and when the music picked up again, you and Hiccup just lifted your arms up over Toothless and continued on your dance, leaving a very confused dragon behind.

“We slow for no one

The song ended just a quickly as it began, and as the last note played Hiccup pulled you against his chest, a smirk in place.  

You sent him a weak glare as everyone burst into applause, before letting a smile win over.

“I feel abandoned.” Astrid said as soon as you and Hiccup reached the blond.

“Husband’s first.” You replied, grinning as Astrid rolled her eyes.  Hiccup was smiling again, and because his smile was contagious, you were smiling too.  “So where did my brother run off too?”

“You’re father needed to talk to him about his coronation.” Astrid replied. “I guess it’s going to start in an hour.”

Both you and Hiccup nodded in understanding, looking behind you as Arthur approached.

“Coronation in a hour!” He said happily, taking his place besides Astrid.

“And in a hour I’ll be out of the kingdom.” You replied, smiling cheekily as Arthur glared at you.  You then took Hiccup’s hand. “Come on, let’s go out on the balcony.”

“Anything for you m’lady.” Hiccup grinned while you glared, but you took him anyway.

As soon as you stepped out onto the balcony, the music got drastically quite.  It was a warm summer night, with a small breeze blowing. A full moon lit up the starry sky, and you couldn’t help but think it would be the perfect night for a midnight flight.

“Any reason for coming out here?” Hiccup asked, leaning against the railing next to you.

“I just needed to get away from thing for a little bit.” You replied. “I mean, that last dance was fun, but there’s only so much I can take you know?”’

“Too well.”  Hiccup wasn’t one for being in big crowds, nor all the responsibility’s that he was expected to do.

Just like you.

A new song started, and the music was drifting out onto the balcony. “Do you remember this song?” Hiccup recognized the song right away, and it took you a little while to recognize it, but when you did your face lit up and Hiccup smiled. “You up for one last dance?”

In response you started a light-footed dance just as the violin started the faster notes, and when the lyrics started Hiccup took your hand.

“I have a dream, you are there
High above the clouds somewhere
Rain is falling from the sky, but it never touches you
You’re way up high”

The violin took the song over again, and Hiccup placed a hand on your waist and the both of you started dancing in time to the faced paced melody.

“No more worries, no more fears
You have made them disappear
Sadness tried to steal the show
But now it feels like many years ago.”

Hiccup led you into a twirl as the singing stopped, and then placed his hand back on your waist as the singing started once again.

“And I, I will be with you every step
Tonight, I found a friend in you,
And I’ll keep you close forever.”

The two of you then started up a faster paced version of the waltz, both grinning like idiots.

“Come fly with me, into a fantasy
Where you can be, whoever you want to be
Come fly with me.”

Toothless had finally come out to investigate, Aurora close behind. They both blinked at their riders, before doing a dragon shrug and sitting by the doors to watch you and Hiccup.

“We can fly all day long
Show me the world, sing me a song
Tell me what the future holds
You and me will paint it all in gold”

You noticed the two dragons, and then smiled at them before focusing back on Hiccup.

“And I, I will believe your every word
Cause I, I have a friend in you
We’ll always stay together”

You and Hiccup picked up the waltz again, but now the both of you were laughing.

“Come fly with me, into a fantasy
Where you can be whoever you want to be
Come fly with me”

The music slowed down drastically and you and Hiccup slowed down your dance as well.

“And I, I will be with you every step
Tonight, I found a friend in you, and I keep you close forever”

The music then picked up again for a brief moment, before slowing down into a light and airy tune. You yourself broke off, dancing with Toothless and Aurora as Hiccup watched with a smile on his face.

“Come fly with me
Into a fantasy
Where you can be whoever you want to be
Come fly with me”

The music went back to it’s fast tune, and Hiccup pulled you into his embrace as you finished the dance and song.

“Come fly with me, into a fantasy
Where you can be whoever you want to be
Come fly with me”

When the song ended, you were a little surprised to hear clapping, but when you looked back to see Astrid, it wasn’t that surprising anymore.

“You two should dance more often.” Astrid said, petting Toothless as he nudged her hand. “But right now you’re brothers coronation is going on, and you need to get in there.”

Your eyes widened. “Coronation!” You shouted. You were supposed to be up at the alter thing with Arthur, off to the side, but still up there.

You quickly detached yourself from Hiccup, who frowned as you ran back into the castle. He then shook his head and smiled, letting Astrid lead him back in.
